Developers are being asked to re-think plans to install several lighting columns at a Kingston Bagpuize industrial estate.
Planning officials at the Vale of White Horse District Council say that proposals for the Rectory Lane estate are excessive and need to be reduced.
More new units are to be built on the estate, a different road layout is planned with a new road connecting the main A415 to the estate area. Oxfordshire County Council wants the junction to be illuminated and the developers are proposing several tall lighting columns.
Jerry Patterson, chairman of the district council's planning committee, said: "We think the lighting plans are excessive and not appropriate in an open, rural landscape. Other road junctions in the area outside Kingston Bagpuize and Southmoor, are not lit at all. Not only that this trading estate will be closed at night."
The council wants more talks with the developers, the county council and parish councillors before agreeing to planning permission.
