North Oxford have secured the Men's 3-Pair Wilson Inter-Club League Division 1 title with a narrow 5.5-3.5 victory over Witney.

But North were given a huge fright by their west Oxfordshire rivals, whose first pair of Tom Canning and Andrew Dick won all three rubbers against a powerful North Oxford line-up.

Rob LoosemoreBut North's strength in depth proved crucial. Their side, consisting of Richard Watkins and John Loosemore, Rob Loosemore and Paul Butcher, and Christian Peterson and Nick Beale, have won six of their seven matches this season, and have drawn the other.

In Division 2, Thame shot to the top with an 8.5-.5 victory over Abingdon B.

However, they must rely on Cholsey to drop a match, as they are currently on the same amount of points but have played a game less.

Rob Tattersall and Chris Coles picked up Abingdon's only half in their defeat, as Nigel King and Richard Bradley, as well as Ian Catchpole and Andrew Kaminski won all three rubbers for the title-chasing Thame.

Cholsey beat North Oxford B 7.5-1.5 to ensure that they remain in the box seat.

The Greenland brothers - Simon and Tom - were unbeaten at second pair, while for North Oxford, Rupert Beale and Simon Porteous claimed two halves.

Woodstock B are promoted from Ladies Division 2 after a convincing 7.5-1.5 victory over Oxford Sports in a promotion decider.

Elaine May and Jenny Corfield won all three rubbers for Woodstock, with Brenda Stevens and Alison Clayton the only Sports players to score a point.
