A former chairman of magistrates in Thame has "strongly opposed" any move to close the court in the town.
On Friday, The Oxford Mail revealed Thames Valley Magistrates Courts Service was considering closing Thame, Didcot and Abingdon courts to save money.
Cecil Wiggs said: "This comes up every few years and one gets fed up with it.
"People need local justice administered locally.
"They shouldn't have to trek miles to court.a
"I am think especially of witnesses, and the people who need court innocently for things like licences for functions.
"I am sure the powers that be will get their way one day and the building will close, but it should be strongly opposed."
The magistrates used to sit one day a week but the court nows sits in one form or another every day. The magistrates cover an area extending from Henley to Oxford.
