A superb performance from David Taylor helped Banbury retain the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup with an 88-run victory over Shipton-under-Wychwood in the delayed final at Bletchingdon.

He hit a quickfire 41, including a couple of magnificent sixes in Banbury's 145-8, before he took 3-24 as well as taking a magnificent one-handed diving catch.

Banbury had got off to a shaky start before left-handed openers Haupt and Taylor got to work.

Haupt, who the previous day hit a century in Banbury's Home Counties League win over Radlett, was dropped by Jason Constable before he was caught on the boundary by Stewart Gillett as tried to hit Chris Panter out of the ground, for 28.

Shahbaz Ali did the same as he was caught for five by Constable before the same fielder brought Taylor's innings to an end.

Neal Radford was in great form with an undefeated 32, with Mark Rorich making an unbeaten 31.

Shipton's innings got off to a bad start with Constable out for five in the second over before they staged a mini-recovery to reach 30 through Shaun Miller, and Stewart Gillett, before the latter was caught by Taylor at deep square leg for 23 off Ian Adams (4-4), whose straight fast bowling had Shipton in all sorts of trouble.

At 48-5 Shipton were fighting a lost cause, and they were skittled out for 57, as Banbury won the cup.
