Thame is still looking for something to celebrate the Millennium almost two years after the rest of the country marked the occasion.
The town council has decided to re-examine all the ideas and designs submitted by the public two years ago for a structure for the Millennium Circle in High Street
Policy committee member Peter Cockayne said a water fountain would be a good idea, but this was dismissed as "a nice idea but impractical" by chairman Andy Gunn.
Deputy mayor Mike Welply said: "That spot in the High Street has stood empty long enough - something must be done with it.
"I am sure Thame people have enough civic pride to honour whatever we put there and leave it unvandalised."
At the moment, the Millennium Circle is simply an inlay of stones on the pavement outside Unwins wine shop. It housed a showcase of local artworks during the arts festival, 2001: A Thame Odyssey, but is now empty again.
The council's general purposes committee is to look again at previous ideas for the site and make recommendations.
