After a goalless first half, Carterton went behind in the 47th minute, but Adrian Holder equalised in the 76th minute following a fumble by the Police keeper.
With six minutes left, Carterton keeper Craig Ewer gifted the home side the winner when he raced out of his goal, leaving it wide open for Jason Prins to score.
