A controversial pro wrestling show is to launch itself upon Wallingford.
There will be bodies smashed through tables, bottles broken over heads, and live Burmese pythons.
"And that's just for starters", according to the organiser's of Extreme World Warfare's 'Castled ' at the Castle Leisure Centre, on September 22. The Heythrop-based company claimed the 600 tickets for the event are being snapped up.
EWW co-founder, Stuart Allen ,said, "We're confident it will be a sell-out,"
It is the first Oxfordshire show to be staged by the "extreme pro wrestling" organisation since the frenzy caused by its performance at Exeter Hall, in Kidlington, in August 1998.
Organisers were criticised then for advertising the use of a baseball bat wrapped in barbed-wire.
Coverage in the Herald's sister paper, the Oxford Mail, led to reviews in the national press and a television slot on the Jerry Springer Show.
Punters who have managed to get their hands on tickets for the Wallingford spectacular will see many top names from the world of wrestling.
Britain's Jody Flash takes on Justice, from Florida, for the World Light-heavyweight Pro Wrestling title, while Nova, from New Jersey, takes on Florida's Frankie Capone in the "Steel Cage".
The audience will also come face to face with the likes of The Dominator, The Flatliner, and the Dead Souls - a Gothic martial arts and dance group that play the role of 'the baddies' throughout.
Castle Leisure Centre secretary, Laura Higgins, said: "It's going to be a big event. I'm getting calls from people in places like Northampton asking 'where is Wallingford?'."
Tickets are available from the Castle Leisure Centre on 01491 839755.
