Banbury VW Beetle RSi racer Michael Neuhoff heads to Brands Hatch on Sunday, September 9, as one of only three drivers in with a chance of outright championship victory in the Volkswagen Racing Cup.
With only the double-header at the Kent circuit to go, Neuhoff, Class C Golf GTi driver Phil Jeffery and Class A Vento VR6 racer Rob Carvell are the only contenders.
Following the last twin-race round at Snetterton, Jeffery, who has already clinched the Class C honours, leads with 207 points. Carvell has 200 and Neuhoff is third with 196.
But with drivers counting only their best ten scores from the 12 rounds, it is Neuhoff who has the advantage. He missed the opening two rounds and will not have to discard any points, while Carvell has scored in all but one round so far and Jeffery has finished every race.
There will be five Beetles on the grid with former Vento runner Elton Sheldon joining the throng, alongside Neuhoff, reigning Brotosh GTO Sports Car Champion Mark Sumpter, Nick Adcock and Stuart Scott.
