Television and radio star John Craven is the latest name to join Banbury FM.
Mr Craven, who lives in Adderbury, will present programmes during its month-long trial broadcast, which begins on September 23.
John Craven If the trial is successful, the station could win a permanent licence from the Radio Authority to broadcast 24 hours a day across north Oxfordshire from Banbury.
Mr Craven, who received an OBE in the Millennium Honours List for services to broadcasting, said: "I started my career in local radio and though most of my time since has been in television, I still have a soft spot for the wireless. I tune in to local radio stations when driving to TV locations. They are an invaluable part of modern culture and an important service to their communities."
Banbury FM's station manager, Andy Green, said: "To have John on the team is really great news."
Mr Craven will continue with his television commitments, including Countryfile, the BBC1 Sunday morning rural affairs programme.
