Bicester Town Council's head gardener Brian Corcoran has plenty of reasons to look cheerful.
His team gained the best park prize for Bicester in the Thames and Chiltern section of the Britain in Bloom competitions.
Brian Corcoran And the ornamental pond at The Garth, the town council's offices in Launton Road, is boasting an impressive new fountain, thanks to the town Rotary Club.
The fountain, commissioned to mark the Millennium, was officially handed over at the weekend by Rotary president, Paul Jenkerson, pictured above with town mayor Lawrie Stratford.
It was designed by John Sermon, a former Bicester Rotarian and now a member of Evesham Rotary Club.
The £7,000 cost came from the profits of the Bicester club's book, The Bicester Story.
Mr Stratford said: "The fountain is a wonderful gesture by Rotary to the town. It certainly sets off the front of The Garth.
"I am sure it contributed to Garth Park being judged the best park in the Thames and Chilterns section of the Bicester in Bloom competitions."
Mr Corcoran said: "I was pleased we won the award. A few years ago we gained an award for the park with the best flower content, but we have not won for the best park before."
