A burglar has been sent to a rehabilitation centre on a trial basis to assess if he is suitable for drug treatment.
Julian Pitts, 26, of Jerome Way, Shipton-on-Cherwell, near Kidlington, will undergo a month's assessment at the Rhoserchan Rehabilitation Centre in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Pitts admitted stealing a radio cassette player from Gowrings in Kidlington between January 18 and 19, this year, stealing a motorcycle from Thrupp on May 17, and burgling a property in Shipton-on-Cherwell between May 31 and June 4. A television and stereo were taken in the break-in.
At Oxford Crown Court yesterday, Judge Peter Crawford ordered Pitts to attend the rehabilitation centre for a month to assess his suitability for a community penalty, which could be a drug treatment and testing order.
He will appear at Oxford Crown Court again between October 1 and 12, for the judge to hear of his progress.
