Banbury Borough added to their recent national double rink success by lifting the Oxfordshire BA's Hawker Cup with a 42-38 victory over Headington in the rearranged final at Oxford City & County.
Banbury appeared to have the game well under control after ten ends with Calvin Carpenter's rink leading 13-4 over Colin Harris's squad and Alan Prew's team only two shots down to Barry Foster's rink.
But the next three ends from both rinks changed things dramatically, with the Headington boys scoring 11 shots without reply including seven from Harris's rink.
It left his side only two behind, with Headington holding an overall 26-22 lead.
An advantage of two shots was the most either team then had up to the 20th end which saw Headington lead 38-37.
However, Banbury signed off with a single from Carpenter's rink and a four from Prew's team to snatch victory by four shots.
