A reveller injured at Oxford's Party in the Park after being crushed by the crowd, has criticised safety measures at the event.
Karen Foster, 20, of Springhill Road, Begbroke, near Kidlington, took time off work to recover from a badly bruised breast bone after Sunday's South Park event, when a sudden surge in the crowd forced her against the front barriers.
Canteen worker Miss Foster, her mother Linda, and her ten-year-old cousin Hayleigh Glenister, struggled over the fencing in front of the stage to get to the first aid tent. She said: "We arrived at 7.30am so we could be in the front row, because Hayleigh wanted to get a good view of Steps. It was a bit crowded, but we thought it would be all right. At about 1pm the crowd surged forward and I was crushed against the fence. I was in severe pain and very panicky."
Miss Foster was concerned that there were no security guards to rescue her and her family from the crowds, and no-one questioned them when they climbed over the barrier.
Lyn Long, managing director of the organisers, Fox FM, said the radio station had taken every safety precaution. She added: "All feedback is taken on board and considered seriously."
