Rob Quinn could be on borrowed time at Oxford United after Luton Town revealed the U's tried to offload him.
United manager Mark Wright is known to want to get players out as well as bring others in.
Rob Quinn And Joe Kinnear, the Hatters boss who was a director of football at Oxford last season, admitted this week: "The only contact I have had with Oxford since I left was when they offered me Rob Quinn on a free. But I didn't pursue it."
It was Kinnear who bought midfielder Quinn for Oxford last season, paying Brentford £75,000 for him and £75,000 for striker Andy Scott.
So United supporters will feel it ironic that Kinnear is less keen to take the former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international, now that he's struggling to command a regular first-team place at Oxford.
The 24-year-old did not feature at all in the first four games of this season, though he came on as a substitute in the last away game, at Halifax.
