And a group of more than 500 youngsters are currently gearing up for a performance which will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London during the Music for Youth Prom on November 6. Both events are designed to show off the area's musical talent.

Members of the youth orchestra performed twice on Friday and held their gala concert on Saturday.

Members recreated the repertoire which proved popular with their German audiences for the home crowd. It included works by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky.

Soloist Tom Poster, a former member and finalist in this year's Young Musician of the Year contest, joined the orchestra for the gala show.
