The rider who died at the British Motocross Championship has been named as Kenny Wyatt, of Cleethorpes.
The 32-year-old married man was among dozens of riders from across the country who were competing in the event at Culham, near Abingdon, on Sunday.
He was taking part in the first heat of the 125cc class and had completed six laps when the accident happened.
He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, where he died from his injuries.
The last race of the event, which was organised by Oxford Ixion Motocross Club, was called off.
An inquest was being opened and adjourned today.
An investigation into the incident by Thames Valley Police traffic officers has been handed over to South Oxfordshire District Council.
