The kicking of Witney fly-half Francis Grant was the ultimate difference as they beat Bicester 14-10 in an evenly contested friendly at Hailey Road.
Though both teams scored two tries, one in each half, Bicester once again dominated the set-pieces, stealing Witney's line-out ball on at least six occasions.
Witney played against a strong wind in the first half when winger Nathan Phillips took advantage of a wayward pass from Bicester's Maurice Van Wyk to run in unopposed under the posts for Grant to convert.
Van Wyk made amends by running onto scrum half Luke Kelly's pass to score an unconverted try before half-time.
Eight minutes into the second half, Witney extended their lead with another opportunist try.
Luke Kelly's pass near half-way, was picked off by centre Paul Thomas, who raced in unchallenged for a try which Grant again improved.
A few minutes from time, flanker George Williams linked perfectly with centre Mark Nash, to send Van Wyk over on a diagonal run for his second unconverted try.
