A "FRENCH square" could soon be a landmark in Berinsfield as part of an environmental improvement scheme.
A total of £1m has been earmarked to enhance the lay-out of the village.
In the first phase, South Oxfordshire District Council is on the verge of agreeing to spend £463,000 on changes to the Green Furlong village hub, next to the main sports and community facilities.
Two firms - Jon Rowland Urban Design, and Landscape Design Associates - have been commissioned to draw up plans.
From a long list of ideas, a French Square where villagers could meet and relax is considered a top priority. Other ideas include new pathways across the village and better signs.
