Spalding Utd 1, Banbury Utd 0
Banbury United's good run in the Dr Martens League Eastern Division came to an end with a narrow defeat at Spalding last night.
The visitors may have played the better football but they failed to produce the goals when it mattered.
Banbury's Jody McKay was playing further up the field than of late, and he had a couple of chances. His best came when he headed Jimmy Simpson's cross against the bar.
Spalding were probably the worst side that Banbury had played this season, and their only real chance produced the winner in the 83rd minute.
Uncertainty in United's defence left the unmarked Lee Sowerby with the easy task of lifting the ball over the stranded Simon Tricker from the edge of the six-yard box.
Banbury Utd: Tricker, Wallbridge, Joyce, Sullivan, Simpson, Fuller (Redknap 86), Corbett, Travers (O'Neill 86), Milner, Gooderick, McKay. Sub (not used): Essex .
