A Bicester playgroup has now moved back home a year after its building was destroyed in an arson attack.

The Rainbow Playgroup, based at Hendon Place, re-opened on Monday more than a year after the fire.

Supervisor Debbie Holland cuts the ribbon with help from staff and children

The front entrance of the building was decorated with bows and a ribbon, which was cut by Debbie Holland, playgroup supervisor, and three-year-old Remi Collins.

Since last August's fire, the playgroup has been temporarily housed at the Salvation Army centre, in Hart Place.

During that time playgroup organisers have raised about £7,000 to replace all the equipment lost in the fire.

Anita Holland, chairman of the playgroup, said: "We have fought and fought and we have done it - we are back. So many people have helped, it's been phenomenal and we just want to thank everybody."

The playgroup committee has spent the summer moving equipment, laying carpets and decorating the new portable building, donated by the county council.
