Witney & District FA round-up
Defending champions Brize Norton carried on where they left off last season with a 6-1 victory over below-strength Bampton Town in the Premier Division.
In a programme depleted by the unavailability of grounds due to the cricket season, Brize ran Bampton ragged with braces from Ady Godwin and Jon Curtis, along with a goal apiece from Graham Clarke and Mike Haines. Jon Shuker replied for Bampton.
Chadlington saw off newly-pro- moted Spartan Rangers 2-1, with goals from Adam Robson and Simon Catling. Spartans' scorer was Paul Saunders.
Enstone went down 1-0 at home to North Leigh A, the only goal coming in the second half from Steven Kerry.
The only surviving game in Division 1 saw Napier Rovers win 2-0 at Kingham, with Tim Jellyman bagging both goals.
In Division 2, newcomers Aston kicked off with a 2-1 victory at North Leigh B.
Paul Winterbourne fired Aston into a half-time lead and, after North Leigh's Daniel Smith had pulled one back, an own goal gave Aston the points.
Swinbrook came from behind to beat Brize Norton Res 2-1.
Brize went ahead through Derek Weir, but strikes by Patrick Hemming and Keith Keen gave Swinbrook the points.
Second-half strikes from Paul Holt and Nick Forrester earned AFC Finstock a 2-0 home victory over Spartan Rangers Res in Division 3.
Rob March hit a hat-trick as Carterton Rangers Res beat Eynsham A 4-1. Paul Clack completed their tally, with Simon Tombs on target for Eynsham.
