A young widow who was two months pregnant when her husband was killed in a road accident has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Teresa Farquhar, 25, of Harcourt Way, Abingdon, has named the child Stuart in memory of the father he will never know.
Teresa and baby StuartShe said that her pregnancy and the support of friends and family had helped her face each day after her husband's death.
"If I had not been expecting our baby, I would have fallen to pieces completely. I had to keep going for this little life inside of me, which was part of Stuart," she said.
Stuart Farquhar, 27, was killed after a night out with friends when he was hit by a taxi in Banbury Road, Bicester, on January 13 this year. Mrs Farquhar, formerly of Poppylands, Bicester, said her husband, who worked as a team leader at Timbmet, the timber merchants at Cumnor Hill, Oxford, was "over the moon" when he found out that he was going to be a father.
Baby Stuart was born at The Horton Hospital, Banbury, just before 7pm on August 27, weighing a healthy 6lb 14oz.
Mrs Farquhar said: "Everyone has said he looks like his dad because he has got the Farquhar nose."
She added that despite her joy at giving birth, the news was tempered with sadness.
"Stuart's family and I feel totally cheated - cheated of a dad, a son and a husband. He was so young and full of life and had so much to give," she said.
An inquest into Mr Farquhar's death has been opened and adjourned.
