A by-election to choose a replacement for Blackbird Leys councillor Tony Stockford will take place on Thursday, October 11.
Mr Stockford, 69, a former firefighter, quit in July after ten years of representing the ward for the Labour group.
He resigned after losing a selection battle to represent the Blackbird Leys ward in the May elections by six votes to five.
Molly Florey, chairman of Blackbird Leys Parish Council, has been chosen by Labour to defend the ward.
The other candidates are: David Brown (Con), Patricia Dickson (Green), and Bernard Gowers (Lib Dem).
Martin John, elections officer, said: "There will be four polling stations in the ward, with one ballot box in each and the stations will be open from 8am to 9pm.
"Afterwards, the count will take place at Blackbird Leys Community Centre.
"Whoever wins can take their place on the council immediately afterwards."
Mr Stockford's resignation forced the by-election because city council elections are not due to take place until May.
Oxford East MP Andrew Smith tried to persuade Mr Stockford to withdraw his resignation but he refused.
