FA Cup second qualifying round: Horsham YMCA 0, Thame United 0
Thame made the journey back from Sussex wondering how they could have failed to win this first qualifying round tie after missing a host of chances.
Thame were in control from the off and home keeper Jason Dumbrill dealt comfortably with early efforts from Chris Potter and Justin Lee.
Simms had a great chance to open the scoring in the 46th minute when through on goal but delayed his shot and allowed Dumbrill to save with his feet.
A minute later, only a goal-line clearance from skipper Martin Brown prevented Horsham going ahead.
The home keeper was a relieved man in the 57th minute when he miss-controlled a back pass and watched as the ball ran inches wide of his far post.
United were becoming increasingly frustrated by their inability to capitalise on the chances being created.
Chris Potter had an incredible double miss in the 62nd minute when put clear. Duffield saving his first effort and then allowed the keeper time to recover and save the rebound.
Alan Foster kept his concentration despite being a spectator for long periods but produced a top quality save too from Stewart McCreadie as Horsham broke quickly.
Wayne Cort had a great chance to win the tie in the 89th minute when put clear, but his shot hit a post and rebounded agonisingly wide to set up an unlikely replay at the Windmill Stadium tomorrow.
Thame: Foster, Saulsbury, Avery, Brown, Williams, Merritt, Potter, Lee, Cort, Smith (Curran 75), Simms (West 63).
Subs not used: Bradley, S Smith.
**Sky Television will be at tomorrow's replay as part of their 'Road to Cardiff' feature. They were at Horsham on Saturday.
