Transport planners are seeking residents' views on plans to stop traffic ruining the countryside.
They want suggestions on how to improve south Oxfordshire's roads for pedestrians, cyclists and horseriders.
The county council is inviting residents and businesses in Ipsden, Checkendon, Stoke Row, Nuffield and Highmoor to a series of Design Days to discuss the proposals.
Transport officer Andy Barton said the aim was better management of traffic in rural areas.
He said: "If left unchecked, areas such as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty could be harmed by increasing levels of traffic over the coming years."
The consultation is part of the council's CountryWays pilot scheme, in association with Woodstock-based transport consultancy company Transport and Travel Research.
Proposals include better signage and chicanes, cobbles and coloured road-surfacing to try to slow traffic. Vehicles may also be diverted away from villages.
There will be maps, photographs and examples of signs and road treatments at the design days, which will be held at: Ipsden Village Hall on Saturday between 10-4pm; Stoke Row Sports Pavilion on September 27, 12.30-8pm; and Checkendon Village Hall, 10-4pm.
