A girl who faced missing out on her second year at Burford School has been able to find transport.
Tako Jones, 12, from Witney, now travels each day with the parents of another girl who was left stranded without a place on a school bus.
Her plight was highlighted Oxford Mail when her mother, Colette, accused the local education authority of failing her daughter.
Mrs Jones, of Farmington Drive, said: "Mothers with children at Burford School and who live in Witney but don't have reliable transport, have been brought together. Your article prompted mothers in a similar situation to me to phone.
"Like me, they are doing their best with the little they have. We would all look to the authorities for help and not expect to become victims of their self-constructed muddle."
Mrs Jones chose Burford for her daughter last year because she believed all secondary schools in the area to be of the same standard and because Tako wanted to be with her best friend.
Despite being a single mother on a modest income, she paid the £418 transport bill for the year on a school bus run by Carterton Coaches.
But, because she failed to re-book with the company by this year's August deadline, her daughter lost her place.
Neither the county council nor the school were able to come up with any help, added Mrs Jones.
The group of parents now hope, however, that Stagecoach will extend their X3 service covering Witney to Burford to include a new 8am bus.
