Campaigners are to lobby transport authorities for improvements to the A34.
Representatives of Didcot and villages such as Appleford and Long and Little Wittenham are among those who have made the call.
It is hoped that imptovements will steer heavy traffic away from bridges over the Thames at Culham and Clifton Hampden and avoid the need for new crossings.
Members of the 13 parishes group will make representations to transport consultants and county council officials as part of the Didcot Transport Issues Study.
The group will press for improvements to the busy Didcot-Milton Heights A34 interchange to discourage the build-up of traffic north of the town through Appleford, Culham and the Wittenhams.
Plans to redevelop Didcot town centre, coupled with its large scale expansion, mean there will be major changes to transport and roads in the area.
Because of this, Oxfordshire County Council is holding a three-day consultation at the civic hall.
It will feature an exhibition designed to highlight the issues, problems and possible solutions and give residents from the town and surrounding areas a chance to have their say.
