Mark Wright admits his patience is wearing thin with his Oxford United players after they turned in one of the poorest home performances in recent memory last night.
Fewer than 5,000 watched the 2-0 defeat by Macclesfield Town at The Kassam Stadium and gates are likely to drop even further unless Wright can halt the miserable slide.
In a quite pathetic display, the U's were outplayed and outfought by a team who gained sweet revenge for their FA Cup exit at the hands of Oxford ten months ago.
Last night, United failed to manage a shot on goal until Manny Omoyinmi got in a strike in the 90th minute.
Wright said the performance was "simply not acceptable" and he ordered his players back in today for extra training. Indeed, some of them could find themselves in the reserves in today's match at Bournemouth.
And he was at a loss to explain why everything has gone to pot in a matter of days.
