Oxfordshire's Hazel Woodward and Stella Amos were sent reeling by a 15-shot onslaught as they chased a place in the semi-finals of the Women's All England Senior Pairs Championship in Coventry.
Woodward and Amos, from Charlbury, made a storming start against Janet Sellick and Brenda Farr from Bushey, Herts, scoring on four of the first six ends to race 6-2 ahead in their quarter-final clash.
However, the Oxfordshire duo were stunned as the opposition went on a scoring rampage, amassing 15 shots over seven ends to power ahead 17-7.
A five and two trebles over the next four ends stretched their lead to 28-11 and forced the Charlbury pair to throw in the towel with 19 of the 21 ends completed.
