What a disappointment it was when Ipswich snatched a draw in the Speedway Star KO Cup semi-final on Friday, giving Cheetahs a mammoth task to pull it off in the second leg, writes John Gaisford.
Teams are supposedly made up of seven riders, but the Witches needed only four to pull this one out of the fire after being eight points adrift. Clever use of tactical substitutes and a win out of nowhere for Jeremy Doncaster saw them take full advantage of the rules.
Every time the Witches were six points adrift they brought in one of their big guns and Scott Nicholls, Andreas Jonsson and Craig Boyce really did their stuff.
