Oxford Cheetahs riders Leigh Adams and Steve Johnston failed to make any impression in the Elite League Riders Championship at Sheffield's Owlerton Stadium on Thursday night.
The meeting, won in brilliant style by former Cheetah Jason Crump, also saw the eclipse of Grand Prix favourite Tony Rickardsson and last year's winner Ryan Sullivan.
Jason CrumpAdams won only one of his five rides, and it came in his final ride where he beat world champion Mark Loram in a thriller. He finished on eight points, not enough to make the final eliminator.
Johnston, coming in for the absent Lukas Dryml, was never on the pace and suffered the humiliation of five last places.
It was Crump's night, but in the final he was taken all the way by impressive England ace Scott Nicholls before winding up on the outside of the last lap to secure a memorable victory.
**Top eight finishers: Crump 14, Nicholls 12, Pedersen 11, Karlsson 11, Sullivan 9, Richardson 9, Rickardsson 9, Boyce 9.
