Charity workers at an Oxford hospital fear their organisation could be under threat unless new volunteers are found.
The League of Friends of the Churchill Hospital, in Headington, celebrated its 21st birthday this year.
Since 1980 the group has raised £450,000 for equipment.
But members say they need more helpers in their cafeteria and shop to continue their good work.
Although more than 60 people already help, another ten volunteers are needed to keep the amenities open.
Chairman Roger Matchett said: "Many of our existing volunteers have been with us for a number of years and are finding it increasingly difficult to give such a commitment.
"In addition, the expansion of the Churchill over the next few years means that demands from patients, visitors and staff will grow, so it's essential that we build the team."
The league offers support to patients, visitors and staff at the Churchill.
Last year, it raised more than £43,000 to buy items including a bladder scanner and furnishings.
Vice-chairman and founder member Margaret Hughes said the shop and cafeteria had two shifts a day, between 8am and 1pm and 1pm and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
She said: "If we're to continue the success of the last 21 years it's vital that we attract new volunteers -- men and women of whatever age."
