Oxford United are offering a special package to their fans in a bid to entice them to watch both United v Plymouth and England v Greece at The Kassam Stadium on October 6.
With FIFA deciding yesterday that England's crunch World Cup clash at Old Trafford must kick off at 3pm, and Oxford already committed to playing their Division 3 match at 1pm the same day, they know many fans will have divided loyalties.
So they are introducing a special one-off price of £10 to watch the England match on a big screen in the restaurant on the first floor of the stadium, with a sandwich buffet and a free drink included. The drink can be anything from a soft drink to a pint.
United secretary Mick Brown said: "For many, the experience of a post-match meal in the restaurant to watch the Germany-England game was a big success, and the atmosphere was great.
"By bringing the price right down, we are trying to attract many more. We have about 3,000 season ticket holders and we hope many of them will take up this offer.
"We are making it a sandwich buffet because many supporters will only be able to get to the restaurant after the England game has kicked off.
"We had already sold tickets for the Plymouth game for a 1pm kick-off and we felt that if we changed it again we'd end up upsetting more people than we pleased."
The restaurant can seat up to 750. Fans interested in booking the restaurant buffet that afternoon should contact Claire on 01865 337500.
