Paul Moody became the darling of the Oxford United fans once again with a goal on his return as Mark Wright's men bounced back brilliantly from their Macclesfield misery.
The typical Moody special put United on their way to a 2-0 win over Southend on Saturday, and Wright admitted: "He's just what we needed."
Signed for £150,000 from Millwall on Friday, the 34-year-old former United favourite put away the first good chance he got - a classic centre forward's header from eight yards.
"That's what he's there for," said Wright
"We all know Paul Moody's not the most mobile of forwards, I don't want him running the channels. I don't want him doing any more than holding the ball up and when the ball goes in the box, getting on the end of it - and that's a massive plus."
But United's manager was delighted with every one of his team as they produced their best home league performance of the season.
