Tooting & M 3, Oxford C 0
OXFORD City went down to defeat in last night's Ryman League Division 1 game but were far from disgraced by the final scoreline.
With injuries to skipper Julian Dark and Michael Thorp on Saturday adding to an already ravaged squad, City fielded seven teenagers.
They went behind in the sixth minute when a corner was headed out to McGibbon, whose 20-yard volley flew past an unsighted Stuart Nelson.
A great chance to level went begging six minutes later when Jemaine Ferreira headed wide of an open goal.
But the home team added a second in the 28th minute when Steve Gray's back pass to Nelson bobbled on the uneven surface and the keeper's clearance went straight to Matt Gray who shot into a vacant goal.
Tooting had keeper Webb to thank when he made an outstanding save from the impressive Cameron Abassi's 30-yard thunderbolt. Jemmott added a third with a low drive into the bottom corner.
**Oxford City: Nelson, Farley, Ferreira (Waterhouse 64), Gray, Hewlett, Druce (Wise 45), Lewis, Whitehead, Abassi, Mitchell, Billington (Emsden 64).
