A Banbury comprehensive school has achieved the educational standards set by government inspectors.
Drayton School, Drayton Road, attended by 560 pupils aged 11 to 16, was made subject to special measures in 1997.
However, an Ofsted inspection in June this year found the recommendations of an action plan had been followed and special measures were no longer necessary.
The inspection found pupils' progress was at least satisfactory in almost seven out of ten lessons, and good or better in more than two lessons in five.
The report also found the quality of teaching had improved significantly, and the school enjoyed sound management at all levels.
