Award-winning playwright Steven Berkoff returns to the Oxford Playhouse direct from this year's Edinburgh Festival with his hugely acclaimed play Messiah - Scenes from a Crucifixion, which won The Scotsman Fringe First Award last year.
Steven BerkoffThe play is both original and thought-provoking as Berkoff, pictured above, has retold Christ's life and death in a controversial way.
His Christ, who is called JC throughout, is a revolutionary, who plans and executes a daring plot to fulfil prophecies and encourage the overthrow of the occupying Roman forces.
Messiah - Scenes from a Crucifixion is at the Oxford Playhouse until Saturday, September 15.
