CHINNOR'S talented utility back Ben Thompson has broken his jaw and will be out of rugby for at least a month.

Thompson suffered the injury while making a tackle during their 29-21 defeat at Bridgwater in South West Division 1 last week.

An all-round sportsman, who also plays cricket for Oxfordshire, Thompson was not due to play anyway for Chinnor at home to Barnstaple tomorrow as he is a student at Exeter University.

Chinnor will also be without experienced prop Simon Matthews because of an ankle injury. Rob Harris deputises.

Banbury face a formidable task in Midlands 1 when they travel to play Dunstablians, a club with a 100 per cent record in league matches for the last three seasons.

The former Henley winger suffered a 'dead leg' during Quins comprehensive victory over High Wycombe last week - a result that makes them favourites at this stage to go up. Henley Hawks, bottom of National Leeague Division 1 after three successive defeats, are to local rivals Bracknell

The Hawks' worst start to a season was underlined by the heavy defeat at Otley, which has caused the coaches Jim McKay and Nigel Dudding to think hard about their preparation.

Their first step was to schedule an additional training session. Their second to extend the initial squad for the game against Bracknell to consider selection options and also to cope with yet another injury problem to the second row. Angus Moxon, who has played No. 4 for the opening four games, has a leg injury which has probably finished his season.

The experienced back-rower from Gordon, Sydney, Australia, Jeff Atkinson is expected to make his debut and having played Grade 1 rugby in New South Wales since 1996 at Nos. 6, 7,or 8, he should be a very useful aquisition.
