VALE of White Horse are through to the second round of the English Schools Trophy after a 2-0 victory over Eastleigh and Winchester.
Simon Joyce scored both of Vale's goals 15 minutes before the break to give his side the lead.
And he made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when he pounced on a dreadful backpass that went past the keeper to tap home from six yards.
Joyce had a great chance for his hat-trick after the break, but could only shoot wide when he found himself one-on-one with the keeper.
Vale now play South and West Dorset in the second round on Wednesday, October 10.
