Dr Martens Eastern Division: Banbury Utd 2, Chatham Tn 1
This first meeting between the two clubs will not last long in the memory apart from some fine saves from Banbury keeper Simon Tricker to earn the Dr Martens Eastern Division points.
Tricker made two great stops early on from Gary Tilley and Simon Austin and then kept Chatham at bay in the closing stages.
Banbury went ahead in the 38th minute, Ben Milner's shot taking a deflection off Cliff Hearn and looping over keeper Kevin Fewell.
The goal settled Banbury and they looked the more dangerous team either side of half-time.
In the 61st minute, United should have had a penalty when George Redknap was scythed down, but to everyone's amazement, the assistant referee flagged for a free-kick outside the area.
Banbury were not to be denied though, and they were rewarded from the penalty spot in the 68th minute after Matty Gooderick's cross hit Phil Miles's arm. Milner placed the ball to the right of Fewell to put United 2-0 up.
Chatham pulled a goal back in the 81st minute when a cross hit Tony Joyce's arm. Craig Roser scored from the spot.
The last ten minutes saw Banbury nervously hold on to their hard-earned win, Tricker making the last of his four game-winning saves when he foiled Simon Austin again.
