A new range of seats, bins and information points designed for Oxford's revamped Cornmarket Street has gone on show to shoppers.
The co-ordinated street furniture will provide the finishing touches to the ongoing £2.2m improvement of the city's busiest shopping street.
Amanda Morrison A mock-up of the new-look seating was on display in the Clarendon Centre on Friday and Saturday giving members of the public an opportunity to comment on the designs for the pedestrianised street.
The new range, designed by local company Pryke Productions, is unique to Oxford and will be installed when resurfacing work is completed next spring. Slabs being laid had to be lifted after contractors discovered problems with pipework.
City council spokesman Amanda Morrison, pictured above, said: "The designers faced a huge challenge in combining many criteria in one seat, but I think they have succeeded.
"The new benches look lovely. They are contemporary without being wacky."
