Oxford City Stars turned on the style to thump Flintshire 13-0 on their own rink in the English League Cup.
Against a team who finished one place ahead of Oxford in the league last season, this was expected to be a good test, but Stars were in a different class.
The visitors scored after one minute through Kris Abbott and further goals came in the first quarter from James Cameron, Greg Wyatt and Derek Flint, with two in 60 seconds.
The second period started with another Oxford goal, this time Wyatt converting a play involving Abbott and new defenceman Ade Haigh.
Paul Donohoe and a third from Abbott put Oxford firmly in command.
All of the Oxford team played well and it was no surprise when they knocked in a further three goals in five minutes, Flint (2) and Andy Cox doing the damage to put Stars 11-0 up at the second break.
Oxford put in back-up netminder Chris Roberts for the third period, while Flint helped himself to two more goals.
**Stars scorers: Flint 6+3, Abbott 3+5, Cameron 1+6, Donohoe 1+1, Cox 1+1, Wyatt 1+1, Haigh 0+1, Ferry 0+1.
