The county's unsung heroes, who work as volunteers, will be given the recognition they deserve at a special service this week.
Oxfordshire is marking the International Year of Volunteers by holding a conference and a special service of celebration for 500 volunteers at Christ Church Cathedral.
The events, on Thursday, have been organised by a partnership of local organisations that support the role of the voluntary sector.
Liz Brighouse, director of the Oxfordshire Council for Voluntary Action, said: "This is a valuable opportunity to give volunteers the recognition they deserve."
Richard Shaw, chief executive of Oxfordshire County Council, added: "The conference will provide an opportunity to plan together for the future, and encourage voluntary work in Oxfordshire."
