Parish councillors have voted in favour of installing traffic lights to solve problems at an accident blackspot bridge.
Lorries have frequently struck the low Blackthorn railway bridge on the A41 between Bicester and Aylesbury and other vehicles have hit the brickwork.
The road height under the bridge is due to be lowered to solve the problem, but people living in nearby villages fear that will mean higher traffic speeds on the A41, making it more difficult for motorists to pull out of side roads near the bridge.
Now Blackthorn parish councillors have backed the idea of installing traffic lights to solve the problem.
Chairman Sue Mellis said: "The lights turning red would enable drivers in Station Road, Blackthorn, and the Marsh Gibbon road to get out on to the A41."
Parish councillors also thought a 50mph speed limit on the A41 for half-a-mile on both sides of the bridge would also help slow down traffic.
A new speed limit would also ease problems at the nearby A41/ Launton-Blackthorn road junction.
