Oxford City Stars confirmed their status as one of the favourites for the English National League with a magnificent 5-1 victory over previous leaders Chelmsford Chieftains.
Oxford took the lead in the eighth minute Kris Abbott, Chelmsford equalising ten minutes later while enjoying a two-man powerplay advantage.
Just as it seemed the first period would be tied, Oxford managed to regain the lead in the last minute when Abbott scored his second.
Stars went further ahead early in the second period through Simon Ferry and began to control the game with some flowing passing.
In the third period Greg Wyatt notched Oxford's fourth goal after some fine approach work by Alex Eberhardt, and then Stars' captain Ferry, their player-of-the-match, completed the scoring from a Paul Donohoe pass.
