Cherry Red Records Hellenic League preview
Ardley United manager Paul Spittle has snapped up former Tottenham Hotspur and Reading midfielder Stuart Beavon to bolster his young squad, writes KIEREN BUSHNELL.
The 42-year-old, who has also played locally with Oxford City, is on stand-by to make his debut at home to Cirencester United tomorrow in Division 1 West (3pm).
His son, Stuart Beavon jnr, signed for Ardley at the start of the season, and has played a major role in the club's turn round in form after a disappointing start.
Spittle was delighted to capture the signature of Beavon, whom he played alongside at Chesham United in 1996.
"He will probably play quite a big part this season, although he won't be a regular," Spittle said.
"He told me I can use him whenever I need to, and he will be a really experienced player to help bring our youngsters through."
Midfielder Paul Kimber is unavailable tomorrow due to work commitments.
Carterton Town will take over the Premier Division's top spot if they win at Henley Town tonight (7.30).
Nathan Woodley is doubtful after turning his ankle during Tuesday's 5-0 victory over Witney Academy and Carl Dodds has a shin problem.
Town have scored ten goals without reply in their last two games.
North Leigh, who have also hit the net ten times in their last two games but conceded seven, will hope for a better defensive display against Wantage Town at Eynsham Park tomorrow (12.30).
Striker Matt Hendra is ruled out with a hamstring strain.
Gary Murphy will rest his sore knee for one more match, but should be fit for the midweek trip to Yate Town.
Wantage are without Kevin Reid, who twisted an ankle in midweek, but Sean Cantwell returns.
Didcot Town have injury and unavailbility problems ahead of their long trip to Herefordshire to face Pegasus Juniors (1).
Danny Lawton, Andy Graham and Phil Thomas are all working, while Matt Bianchini remains sidelined with a hip injury. Simon Kelly (knee) is also ruled out, but Jon-Paul Bailey, who has been suffering from a hamstring strain, should return.
Barry Grant's 112-day ban begins as Bicester Town travel to Wootton Bassett Town (12.45).
Stuart Fox also begins his 35-day ban, but Chris Johnson has appealed against his suspension, and is therefore still available.
The trio were sent off during a mass brawl at Abingdon United last month. Assistant boss Kevin Leach takes Grant's seat in the dug-out until the suspension is complete.
Goalkeeper Steve Bates is still struggling to shake off his rib injury, so Marcus Townsend again deputises for leaders Hook Norton as they entertain local rivals Easington Sports (3). Mark Agnese is out but striker Shane Peedle is back from holiday.
Middle Barton welcome back Jason Bedford for their home game with bottom side Malmesbury Victoria in Division 1 West (1). Paul Eldridge returns from injury, but sweeper Andy Shepherd is unavailable.
Witney Academy name an unchanged squad as they face new boys Pewsey Vale at Marriotts Stadium tonight (7.30).
Chipping Norton Town will be keen to continue their change in fortune when they travel to struggling Shrivenham (12.30).
They welcome back Paul O'Hare and Aslam Sultane, but striker Robbie Wyatt is missing through suspension. Craig Dore and Jeremy Winter are also suspended.
