A widow says she was driven to tears by the "disgusting" treatment she received at Oxford Crematorium after her husband's death.
Brenda Naylor, 66, lost her husband, Jeffrey, to cancer of the lymph glands in June after caring for him through the final six months of his life at their home in Blake Road, Bicester.
He was cremated at the Oxford Crematorium, in Bayswater Road, Headington, on July 6, and Mrs Naylor was charged £975 for the service.
But she says the crematorium failed to contact her with details of the interment date, as she requested.
Three months later she received the bill and was told that her husband's ashes had been kept in storage instead of being interred.
Mrs Naylor said that when she went to visit what was to be her husband's final resting place on September 27, she found a plaque.
But she also found that the rose bush she had ordered had no flowers and was affected by blight.
"It was disgusting. Jeffrey was cremated then forgotten about," she said.
"I was sobbing at this point and I told them I wouldn't pay for it.
"Within half-an-hour a new rose bush appeared and they interred his ashes.
"I was really upset. It's bad enough to lose someone you love but to go through all this, with the amount of money they charge, is disgusting. They just played with my feelings when I was at my lowest ebb."
Mrs Naylor said she had not been given any apology for what had happened but had to pay the bill in full.
A crematorium spokesman refused to make any comment on the matter.
