Problems caused by the increasing power multi-national companies have in the world will be discussed at a public meeting.
Organised by Abingdon EarthCare, the Beyond Globalisation meeting at Abbey Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, will discuss how sustainable alternatives can help by giving priority to re-building local economies, communities and environments.
Speakers include Green MEP Dr Caroline Lucas, a member of the European Trade Committee, who will claim globalisation is harming people and outline alternatives that are available. Her main focus will be on the food economy and the importance of a local food supply network.
Writer James Robertson will discuss new economic ideas in finance and the monetary system.
