Alchester's Mike Allen continued his preparations for his Himalayan run at the beginning of November in the annual 22 mile man versus horse multi-terrain race at Llanwrytd Wells in Wales.

With 23 horses setting off at the same time as 158 runners up the mountain, Allen had a good start ahead of the horses, but tripped at the five-mile mark and broke his waterbottle belt.

At the 17-mile mark, Allen started to feel the pace, but he finished well to come home in a time of 3hrs 39mins for a position of 70th - well ahead of the last horse!

Allen travels to Asia at the beginning of next month to take on the monumental task of competing in two marathons and two half marathons on consecutive days.
