Residents of Didcot stepped out with pride at the town's first civic service and parade for more than ten years.
Town mayor Jeremy Goff, who revived the tradition, said: "My wife and I have been to civic services in other towns. As a churchgoer, I wanted to revive the idea in Didcot.
"It was an opportunity for youth and community groups to get together. I hope my successors will continue the tradition."
St Peter's Church was packed for the service which was conducted by the Rev Nicholas Gandy.
Wantage Silver Band played during the service and took part in the parade to the Civic Hall.
The parade also included mayors from Abingdon, Wantage, Wallingford, Henley, Chipping Norton and Bicester. Cllr Eleanor Hards, the chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council, Lady McLintock, the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, and Brig Clive Elderton, the station commander of Vauxhall Barracks, also took part.
The scouts, guides, and the Air Training Corps represented youth organisations.
The Royal British Legion and other ex-service organisations were represented by standards.
